A lever is a bar or a lath that rests on a support chosen fulcrum which lifts or moves the load. The closer the object is to the fulcrum the easier it is to move it. Classes of levers

The load moves in the same direction as the applied forcefulness. Examples: arm, fishing rod, human mandible, tweezers, tongs, shovel.
These classes of levers can be remembered by the mnemonic "fre 123" where the fulcrum is in the center for the 1st course lever, the resistance is in the middle for the 2nd course lever, and the effort is in the middle for the third class lever.
